Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about getting tattooed at Mikan Tattoo? You’re in the right place.
This FAQ section covers everything from how to book with our artists, pricing and healing,
to aftercare, safety, and what to expect before and after your session.

Whether it’s your first tattoo or you’re adding to your collection, we’ve answered the most common questions below to help you feel prepared, informed, and confident.

Each artist handles their own bookings. Just fill in the booking form and select who you’d like to work with—your message goes straight to them. Most also post updates on their Instagram, so definitely give them a follow if you’re keeping an eye out for openings.

No worries! Just select “I’m not sure” on the form and share your idea or preferred style. We’ll match you with the artist who suits your concept best.

We’re a private, appointment-only studio, so we don’t take walk-ins. If you’d like to be notified of cancellations or last-minute spaces, you can join the mailing list or follow your favourite artist on socials.

Your artist will run through everything with you at the end of the session, and you’ll also get aftercare instructions sent over. You can revisit our aftercare section on the website any time for a full breakdown.

Prices depend on the artist, as well as the size, placement, and complexity of the design. The best way to get a quote is to fill in the booking form with your ideas and any references. Your artist will get back to you with pricing guidance from there.

Get a good night’s sleep, eat a proper meal, stay well hydrated, and avoid alcohol, caffeine, or anything that thins your blood in the 24 hours before your appointment.

Absolutely. Our artists are experienced in cover-ups and reworks. We’ll assess your existing piece and collaborate with you to design something fresh that fits what you’re after.

It can be uncomfortable, but everyone experiences it differently. Some describe it as a scratchy or hot feeling—certain parts of the body are definitely more sensitive than others.

Keep the area clean and moisturised, avoid picking or scratching, and stay out of sun, pools, and saunas while it heals. We’ll give you everything you need to know after your session, and the full aftercare guide is also on the site.

All tattoos change slightly as they age, but proper aftercare and sun protection make a huge difference. If we’re using quality ink and solid technique (which we are), your tattoo will continue to look great for years. Many don’t need a touch-up at all.

Yes—completely. We use single-use needles, sterilised equipment, and follow strict hygiene protocols across the studio. You’re in safe hands here.

Definitely. You’re welcome to bring any images or ideas to help explain what you’re after. While we won’t copy someone else’s tattoo, your artist can create something custom that flows naturally with your body and suits your vibe.

Initial healing takes around two weeks. Full healing—including how it looks and feels—can take up to 4–6 weeks. Good aftercare helps preserve the colour, texture, and fine details.

We don’t recommend it due to health risks. It’s always better to wait until afterward just to be safe for both you and baby.
